THE FOOTHILL THEATRE COMPANY

For 32-years The Foothill Theatre Company has been producing live theatre for the communities of Nevada County, and beyond.  The 2008 season is uniquely shaping up to be very American in nature, offering an exciting array of contemporary and classical fare, Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winners, musicals, comedies, dramas - a veritable theatre feast!  Through 2008, The Foothill Theatre Company plans to expand its Education Program (Studio FTC), that offers low-cost student matinees that feature an educational talk-back session for grades 3-12.  FTC also plans to open the Student Apprentice program to include all areas of theatre production.  The non-profit organization's mission statement clearly identifies it's commitment to the arts and community: "The Mission of The Foothill Theatre Company is to serve our community through professional theatre that entertains and challenges and enriches." Without doubt this season will be as rewarding to the senses as the past 32-years of successful standing ovation performances.

Opening & Closing Dates and Brief Description of Each
Shows

Feb 28th - April 6th:  Urinetown, The Musical:   The tony award winning muscial about the not so distant future where water is rationed and people have to pay to, well, pee!  A wonderful theatre experience that will stay with you for a long time.

April 24-May 25:  Doubt, A Parable:   Did he or didn't he? This crackling drama twists and turns like a rollercoaster, and will have you changing sides repeatedly-even after you leave the theatre!  Soon to be a major motion picture.  (See it at FTC first!)

June 12-August 3:  History of America(Abridged):  The Daily show meets the Marx Brothers in ,of all places, American History class!   Don't miss the zany fun!

September 25- October 26:  On Golden Pond The classic story of Norman and Ethel Thayer and the summer they spent On Golden Pond.

October 23-November 23: Hamlet:  Ghost story...Family drama...Political thriller..Shakespeare's Hamlet is not only the most famous play in the history of theatre-it's also a ripping great yarn!  This production will be performed in an intimate setting of only 99 seats, reserve yours today!

November 20-December 28:  Little Women:  Sands Hall's  brilliant adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic. Each in her own way, these Little Women serve as gracious reminders of the spirit of giving and selflessness that makes Christmas the most hallowed season of the year!

December 4- December 21: SantaLand Diaries:  Had it up to here with holly-jolly Xmas and ho-ho-ho?  This is David Sedaris' outrageously funny memoir about the year he took up a temp job in SantaLand, assisting a constantly changing rotation of very jaded Santa Clauses...A new Santa brings a new attitude though, and warms his cynical heart.
