Honest Unedited Essays of How The Family's Vacation REALLY Turned Out

To Go Directly to Story Links Click Here

This section consists of travel stories written by young children and adolescents up to the age of seventeen.  None of the stories have been edited regarding content, spelling, grammar, or punctuation.  Our reasoning is primarily to retain the youthful appearance, attitude, and perspective regarding their travel experiences.  All personal information has been removed to protect the privacy of the minors and their families.

If you REALLY want to know how the family vacation went or want to know what the most memorable part of the trip truly was, just listen to a child explain it to a friend, relative, or teacher.  Please enjoy the next generation’s answers to the essay question that we all dreaded in our youth upon returning to class after a school break or summer's vacation:

"Where did you go and what did you do on vacation?”

This free short essay publishing opportunity is available to all parents or teachers who would like to submit electronic copies of their child’s or student's responses to the above question.  We will select from all the submissions a few each month to publish.  To submit a child’s short essay, please forward it in the body of an e-mail to:
THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION, THERE ARE NO WINNERS OR LOOSERS!

** Teacher’s please contact the editor for additional information regarding class projects at:

Teacher's Example:  One 8th grade teacher created an extra-credit opportunity for her students by assigning a short essay writing project to answer the above question. The students were given detailed instructions to follow with specific criterion to fulfill within their lesson plan objective for a grade.  To receive the extra-credit, the children had to submit/forward a copy of their fascinating stories in the body of an e-mail to Gold Country Families E-Magazine and copy their teacher. The students were more than energetic to comply, wrote wonderful short essays, and were thrilled to share and have their stories published for all to enjoy.  What a wonderful way to entice children to embrace literacy…by writing their own story and reading their classmate’s stories that have been published in a magazine!
